Hosting Events in Yale Classrooms and Spaces

Classrooms (FAS only*)

Classroom buildings are under the control of the Office of the Registrar (Faculty of Arts & Sciences). To request classrooms, student organizations must use Yale Connect. For instructions on how to request a room using a Yale Connect event request, please visit the Reserving Classrooms Using Yale Connect guide on our website.

Reservation Timing

Per the Registrar’s Office, it is important to note:

  • Fall semester requests open no earlier than the Friday before classes start.
  • During add/drop (the first three weeks of each semester), classrooms may only be reserved one day in advance.
  • Requests for after add/drop won’t be approved until add/drop ends. Requests for future semesters won’t be confirmed until add/drop for that semester is over.
  • Repeating reservations can’t extend beyond the current semester (e.g., a recurring fall and spring request won’t be approved).
  • Classrooms are unavailable during finals period, as the Registrar’s Office uses them for exams. Check the Yale academic calendar for exact dates, and look into non-classroom spaces if you need a room during this time.
Rehearsals and Auditions

Registered undergraduate groups and Undergraduate Production–affiliated groups may use classrooms for rehearsals and auditions, subject to availability and the following rules:

  • Rehearsals and auditions that DO NOT use music or otherwise include loud noise may use classrooms at any time, subject to availability.
  • Rehearsals and auditions that DO use music or otherwise include loud noise may use classrooms at any time on weekends, after 1:30pm on Fridays, and after 8:00pm Monday-Thursday, subject to availability.
  • PH 207 is an exception to the above policy and may be used Monday-Thursday starting at 5:00pm, subject to availability.

In all cases, students using classrooms for rehearsals and auditions are asked to be respectful of other events taking place in surrounding classrooms or within the building and must abide by all other policies related to classroom and building use. Repeated disruptions may result in the Registrar’s Office and/or Undergraduate Production revoking classroom access.

Custodial Charges

A custodial charge applies to classroom reservations from 12 pm Friday through Sunday night. This includes conferences, seminars, concerts, and meetings.

Non-Classroom Spaces
